HLR is keen to support new singers and artists, especially those who are local or have a link to Heckington. Louise is a young lady with a great voice and, we think, a BIG future ahead of her, which is why we were so excited to receive a very rough recording of her singing in her garden at home. We asked her to tell us about herself –
“My name is Louise Emma. I’m 17 and from Beccles in Suffolk. I have sung for as long as I can remember, singing to my family and friends. I love being able to change the songs I sing to fit my own style and the different emotions I can put into the music.
My biggest inspiration has been my grandad as we have always sung together and he helped me to realise that I wanted to be a singer.
Some of my favourite artists who have inspired me are Paloma Faith, Adele and Billie Eilish. I have grown up loving Rod Stewart, as he is my grandad’s idol. Singing definitely runs in my family. My grandad has a great voice and so does my aunt Linda, who lives in Heckington.
I hope you enjoy my songs.“
We certainly did, Louise!
Hearing that first recording was all we needed to realise that Louise has something special. So HLR has been working with her to record and produce songs which will hope will promote her musical career.
While we are learning, along with Louise, we think they are quite stunning performances and, judging by the response, our listeners agree. We can’t wait to hear more!
We will be playing Louise’s wonderful recordings during live shows, so tune in to listen!

We’ve been featuring Nick Unsworth’s music on HLR since the beginning of June. Nick is well known to us at Heckington Living as he helped to produce the page designs we still use in the magazine. But what we didn’t know was that he is such a talented singer/songwriter. His song ‘Trade Those Crazy Dreams’ was an immediate hit with our listeners and we’re still playing it. Here’s what Nick told us –
My name is Nick Unsworth and I live in Helpringham. I was born in Salford, Greater Manchester. There I taught myself how to play guitar when I was 7 years old. In my teens my family moved to Kent and I played in a few local bands there. I was lead singer and rhythm guitarist in Jasmine Childe. We were reasonably popular locally and had a good following. We went abroad to Holland in the late 70’s where we lived and played for 6 months before returning to England. We played mostly our own material which was written by myself, Paul Creed, Sean Flynn and Clive Munns. We never achieved the fame we wanted and eventually we disbanded. We have however had a few reunion gigs within the last ten years which have been fun. I have written loads of songs and find the process both relaxing and rewarding. It would be nice one day to write a hit song. That is what I want to achieve and I am never going to give up on that dream.
I use Band in a Box to create my songs these days and I am very impressed with the scope and quality it offers.

I really get a buzz out of hearing my songs played on Heckington Living Radio and I hope you enjoy them too.
